ine with its fullest represents the living peace of art, an inspiration of many musicians, artists or painters. Barrique Art units creativity, freedom and enthusiasm, an inspiring idea of beautifully painted barrel collection of Puech Haut.
Gérard Bru dreamt up the idea of sending an oak barrel to one of his artist friends, whose task was to decorate it in the style of their choice, before returning it to the estate. A Friendship story has turned into a great collection of 300 unique barrels, painted by the world-famous artists and kept into a barrel museum at Chateau Puech Haut. Due to the tradition each year Chateau representatives invite 3 artists to emphasize their emotions and create unique art. They can be funny, sexy, sensual and inspiring like Bib’Art. Issued in limited edition, barrels hold white, red and rose wine of IGP Pays d’OC and Languedoc Grés de Montpellier.
The Bib’Art Puech-Haut barrels are thus exact 3 L replicas of the barrels painted by the artists, a dreamlike sharing between wine and art. Each barrel is signed and numbered to the delight of collectors. In exchange, the artists receive the quantity of wine contained in the barrel: the contents against the container!
The Puech Haut estate started out on virgin vineyard land near Montpellier, in the foothills of the Cévennes, and is today one of the largest vineyards in the region. Its 115 hectares benefit from a Mediterranean climate, on land identical to that of Chateauneuf-du-Pape: clay and limestone soils, covered with rolled pebbles.
Cultivated in sustainable agriculture, without chemical weed killers, the grape varieties are carefully chosen for their suitability to the terroir. The harvest of these PGI Languedoc wines is done at perfect maturity, by hand.
The vinification is done in wooden barrels or vats, depending on the colour, but always in separate varieties, to preserve all the typicity of the wine. Ageing in barrels imposes an astonishing singularity to the wines. A sure value of the Languedoc!
